....and so concludes our review of ten years of Felt. It is ironic that the final album was released on  eclectic Cherry Red spin-off label, él Records ....which also marked a return to what Lawrence did best after some unusual journeys during his later Creation years. Anyway, despite what mr.angry.anon said in the comments of the first post, the vast majority of the Felt discography is deleted, unless you feel the need to give Amazon or Apple money for em-pee-threes. I am indebted to Steve for his hard work with his original vinyl pressings - plus if you look in the comments to the first of Felt you will also find his links to their BBC Radio Sessions (best get there quick). I'll deal with the two proper compilation albums very shortly.

Steve has prepared a detailed compendium of cleanly ripped gigabytes from his collection of Felt on vinyl and has allowed it to be posted here on ESWA for blog followers. Felt were always in the shadows of indie-pop, denied wider recognition through airplay but always so very special in the hearts of those who discovered them. Incredibly, there was never a Peel Session and only one track was to make it to Peel's Festive Fifty in 1985. Thankfully after Index, Lawrence learned to play his guitar properly and found the confidence to let us hear his very unique voice.

Just Splendid

Felt - The Spendour Of Fear

Originally released on a vinyl mini-album on Cherry Red Records (MRED 57). Presented here from a more recent compact disc issue. I mentioned melancholy a little earlier, no word sums up Felt better than that. In my opinion Splendour Of Fear is easily their best work, and as usual, there will be other opinions. Largely an instrumental work, so if like me, you tend to struggle a bit with Lawrence's voice, then that is a good thing. I am rambling on again ....
