Bauhaus - The Sky's Gone Out

Ripped from a vinyl album and limited 12" EP set released on Vertigo / Beggars Banquet Records (VOGX-1-3326) in 1983 to high resolution 24-bit lossless flac audio. After the brief run of Bauhaus-related posts a few weeks ago, Damijan sent over his rip of the Canadian pressing of The Sky's Gone Out which also includes a 12" EP of bonus single tracks. Whilst never a classic album, I think Bauhaus did justice to Eno's Third Uncle, plus Silent Hedges, In The Night and Spirit are among some of their best tracks, however for me, the concept piece, The Three Shadows falls over badly and spoils a quarter of the album. The original UK release of this album included Press The Eject... so I've snuck a copy into the archive.

Bauhaus - Burning From The Inside

Ripped from a vinyl album released on Beggars Banquet Records (BEGA 45) in 1983 to high resolution 24-bit lossless flac audio. Whilst it would have been more credible to feature In The Flat Field or Mask, I decided to dust off (quite literally) my copy of the swansong Burning From The Inside. The title is very apt as this is a band on self-destruct, with Murphy mostly awol recovering from one ailment, affliction, addiction or whatever, it was up to Daniel Ash and David J to write and construct most of the record. To a degree only She's In Parties, Antonin Artuad, Honeymoon Croon and the title track bare any resemblance to Bauhaus with the remainder being a mix of what could be Tones On Tail or David J (solo) tracks. History hasn't been kind to Peter Murphy (mostly self-inflicted issues) and he clearly needed the rest of the band more than they needed him. Such a pity. Everything is summed up in the closing Hope.

Ripped from a 12" vinyl EP released on 4AD Records (BAD 312) in 1983 to high resolution 24-bit flac audio. Nice mini-compilation of 4AD era tracks from the influential Northampton post-punks, Bauhaus. I have always wondered how Bauhaus would have sounded if they had stuck with 4AD instead of flipping over to Beggars Banquet. They would perhaps have survived their 1983 meltdown plus their sleeves would have been better for sure. Dali's Car anybody?

Bauhaus - Terror Couple Kill Colonel (Mis-pressed Version)

Ripped from a 7" vinyl single released on 4AD Records (AD 7) in 1980 to high resolution 24-bit lossless flac audio. The story goes that the original second version was rejected by the band and a new second version recorded at a different session. The label allegedly accidentally mis-pressed a few original copies with the rejected track - the give away being the much heavier bassline and the 4:01 running time, compared to the 4:33 replacement track. Well, whatever happened - and I am sure there are many Bauhaus aficionados  among our ranks who can share the whole story, blog follower Steve has a copy with the offending track and has kindly provided us with a quality rip.
