A Certain Ratio - Below The Canal

The return of ESWA! This time with a nice collection of rare A Certain Ratio recordings - all compiled and mastered for CD by a fan and collector. I have about 40+ live recordings by this lot and this is a compilation of rarities and unofficial live tracks, all of which have never been officially released, quite a few tracks have never been recorded by the band.

As always with ROIRs (recordings of independent origin), these are in FLAC format which is a lossless compression and can be burnt onto CD. Most are mastered from old C90 tapes traded back in the day or collected from the once burgeoning traders circles.

I'm always of the look-out for ACR shows, so if you have any then get in touch and I'll give you access to my vaults. Contact email on the right margin.

  5. ACR are forever burned in my memory for their show at Hurrah's in NYC in 1980. I have been an ardent fan through lineup and stylistic changes over the past 30 yrs. They are my favorite Factory band by far and the one who I think had the most influence on my future musical taste.

  7. I also saw them at the Holy City Zoo gig mentioned above. It was one of their first shows after the departure of Tilly, and we all wondered who would replace her as singer. Typically, the band elected to simply carry on, playing instrumental versions of tunes that had previously had vocals. This mini-tour (I saw them a couple more times within the next few days) also saw them abandon their charity shop look for a more sporty image.

  8. Oh...I notice the version of KSW listed says "Tilly returns" - would this be from the Wag Club, as I recall her making an appearance to do vocals at that show?

  11. Maybe my Yank ears are plugged, but I very much can't hear the interplay described in track 14:

    14. "This One Is New"
Another new one recorded at the Lyceum gig on 7th November 1982. A very much percussion led number with some latin keyboards by Andy Connell. At the end of the track, somebody shouts out "Shack Up! Shack Up!" Dojo mimicks them by shouting it back in a childish voice. Another audience member then shouts "Shakatak!"
