Iron Curtain - Desertion
Back in the dark dark days when this was just another mp3 blog, I included a detailed discography of Iron Curtain sent to me by a friend in the US. Until then I had never really investigated what Iron Curtain were about, even though I was familiar with tracks like The Condos and Tarantula Scream from their first EP.
Iron Curtain were a new-wave outfit from Santa Barbara who were heavily influenced by post-punk bands from the UK and the minimal sounds from the early eighties. Based around lead vocalist Steven Fields, an ever changing line up managed just 3 singles and a 4 track EP in their four year existence. They had built up a keen local following but their product rarely found a market outside of California. Interest & demand grew significantly enough in recent years for Pylon Records to put together a very limited reissue of the Tarantula Scream EP on vinyl, and a remastered CD compilation in 2007. I recently acquired a lovely red/black vinyl package of Desertion, which is now out-of-print.
