The Pale Fountains - Pacific Street
Originally released as a vinyl album on Virgin Records (V 2274) in 1984. Reconstructed here from a 1988 cd reissue to high quality lossless flac. Most will be aware of my love of trumpets in indie-pop and The Pale Fountains were fine exponents of the art. Originally on Belgian indie label Les Disques Du Crepescule, Virgin quickly snapped them up well before the rise of indie-pop but did little to maximise their potential. That first release, (There's Always) Something On My Mind features on this their debut album, however the orchestral follow-up Thank You, was confined to bonus tracks on a later reissue. (Don't Let Your Love) Start A War should have been a huge single but sadly flopped with the mainstream. For lovers of jangley, cheerful indie-pop (and trumpets) everywhere.
