The Lilac Time - The Lilac Time
I have fond memories of first hearing this album back in 1987. The anonymity of its sleeve added to the mystery, and the sugary-sweet acoustic pop/folk tunes within the grooves made it difficult not to love, even if it was Steven Tin Tin Duffy at the helm. There is no doubt that Duffy had found his true niche with the early Lilacs and all his previous pop chart abominations can be forgiven.
I did buy the original indie Swordfish release when it first came out, but that is long lost. I recently found this bargain basement Fontana 1988 pressing which has the tracks in a different order. To Fontana's credit they didn't mess much with what Duffy was doing and allowed him to release a further two similar albums before he moved to Creation.
Ripped from a vinyl album re-released on Fontana Records (SFLP 6) in 1988 to high resolution 24-bit FLAC audio.
