Voice Of Authority - Very Big In America Right Now
I do hope that I am not dulling the senses too much with all this heavy On-U Sound stuff. Whilst I can appreciate all this dub isn't to everybody's taste, it has been a re-revelation to me, at least, to re-sample all these releases again. I upped this album back in the early days of the blog (about 6 years ago) and now would seem to be a good time to do it lossless justice.
This was very much an Adrian Sherwood solo album, and the first to show a distinct move away from reggae and dub towards the heavy electronic sound which became evident on his work with Mark Stewart, Tackhead and others. Experimental industrial beats with numerous overdubs and samples, and the occasional female vocals (though not credited I would guess it's Shara Nelson). Apparently roasted peanuts were very big in America back then. This is very very good - play loud!
Originally released on an a vinyl album licensed to Cherry Red Records (BRED 62) in 1984, Ripped here to quality lossless flac from a compact disc.
