Foreign Press - The Great Divide

There was a time when anything featuring the production work of Dojo/BeMusic would find its way into my record collection. To quote a commonly used phrase, you can't polish a turd and as a song, this is one hell of a stinker. Donald and Barney's knob twiddling skills can be better appreciated on the Paul Haig single, The Only Truth which came out a year later.

The Great Divide : ripped from a 12" vinyl single releases on EMI Records (12EMI 5430) in 1983 to lossless flac.

Foreign Press - Climbing 12" EP

Despite what is written elsewhere, Foreign Press had a truly unremarkable and short career. Conceived in Wythenshawe near Manchester as a punk band, they quickly converted to new wave and released a fairly uninspiring 7" EP (a friend has promised to rip his copy for this blog).

The second release in 1982 was Climbing - with a more melancholy, new wave sound and was in my retrospective view, rather good.

The band were then snapped up by EMI, released a BeMusic/Dojo produced pop single, The Great Divide in 1983, and then like so many others of the era, fell by the wayside.
