Get This!

Keith LeBlanc - Major Malfunction
I posted an mp3 rip of this back in the distant past, so a lossless re-rip is well overdue. Copied from my historical posting...
For those who don't know, Keith LeBlanc was the drummer on Rapper's Delight and many other SugarHill releases. Later, he was to team up with the other Sugarhill musicians and Adrian Sherwood to make the heavy beat sound we all know as Tackhead.

The sleeve credits read as follows:
Bass - Doug Wimbish Edited By - Keith LeBlanc Engineer - Adrian Sherwood , Keith LeBlanc , Skip McDonald Guitar - Doug Wimbish , Skip McDonald Keyboards - Doug Wimbish , Keith LeBlanc , Nick Plytas , Skip McDonald Mixed By - Adrian Sherwood Producer - Fats Comet ...

.....so it's another Tackhead release then. In fact, this is now widely recognised as the first Tackhead album.

Ripped from a vinyl album released on World Records (WR 005) in 1986 to high quality lossless flac audio.

A2 Major Malfunction

B. OK Bye!

As promised here are the five splendid 12" singles by Fats Comet released between 1985 and 1986. The Tackhead boys set up their own World Records label in association with famed British producer John Loder and Rough Trade Records. Adrian Sherwood still assumed desk duties on the Fats Comet releases but it was felt that the more disco orientated Fats Comet sound was less suited to the On-U Sound label.

Never Under Sold

Malcolm X - No Sell Out
Here's a re-rip of an old post from back in February 2009, this time available as a choice of 16-bit or 24-bit FLAC files. I've been having issues following a software update for my sound card drivers, and this was one of the records ripped before those problems.
This 1983 12" was one of the first tracks to feature sampling, with samples of Malcolm X speeches over a hard bass, guitar and hip-hop drum groove laid down by Keith LeBlanc and fellow Furious Five member, Reggie Griffin. Originally on Tommy Boy Records in the US, it was eventually to see a worldwide distribution after a deal with Island Records.

Ripped from a 12" vinyl record released on Island Records (12 IS165) to high resolution FLAC audio.
A. No Sell Out (vocal)
B. No Sell Out (Instrumental)
