Circles - Circles
Originally released as a vinyl album on Einhorn Records (1983/1) in 1983. Ripped here from a digital recreation of an original record. My friendly Shoreditch record dealer thrust a copy of this compact disc into my hand recently. I knew of the album from articles elsewhere from people begging to hear Circles but had never come across a physical copy. The krautrock moniker given to Circles is a little unfair as they were more experimental eighties electronica than part of a mass conglomeration of genres given to any band speaking German in flares between 1968 and 1977. Whilst you can hear the common Faust and early Kraftwerk influenced elements, other tracks like the splendid Rockcola come from experimental British post-punk.
Well done to the Spanish grey market label who plucked this from obscurity and produced this fine reissue. Since then a number of lost and unheard/unreleased works by Circles have found their way onto other reissue labels.
