I know I've used the hanging on the coat-tails of goth pun before, but no other band fits this as well as The Bolshoi. The original Giants EP (scattered here among these tracks) was rather good and they deserved some praise of the back of it. Beggars Banquet were being steered financially by major WEA Records at the time and everybody wanted to get on the soft-goth bandwagon. You can probably think of another few bands guilty of similar offences - all going a bit too polished and primed for the hit parade. Just how many times could they plunder Away ...or was it A Way and then AWay II?? Before I upset anybody of a sensitive goth nature, I actually like a lot of what The Bolshoi did and bought their records, it's just this sceptical old man making another scathing comment about eighties major label execs.
