The Teardrops - Final Vinyl
A brief return to the archive of Illuminated Records. The fledgling Illuminated picked up the debut (and only) album by Manchester's The Teardrops, who were essentially Steve Garvey (The Buzzcocks), Karl Burns and Tony Friel (The Fall), aided by a varying line up of fellow Mancs.
Following a couple of trashy singles, The Teardrops' Final Vinyl was a messy blend of new wave, psych and arty pub rock but it worked. From the power punk opener Everything's OK, the art rock of No One Is Innocent, the funky and obscure Hey Count De Bok Bok and psychedelic Teenage Vice and Some People to the schoolboy humour of pogo-punk classic Fackin Kant, there is plenty going on to keep the listener interested.
The album also featured an early sleeve design by Peter Saville which was quickly adopted by Illuminated to be their label logo.
