Marked Time

Syncopation - Marking Time, Demos & Sessions

I posted this a few years back, but do believe it now deserves a lossless re-rip. It was lost again in the m/upload debacle, so deserving, it gets a re-re-post all of it's own.

Syncopation were new wave band from South Manchester who developed a strong local following and much national interest. They released a cassette only album of studio demos, of which Marking Time and Down became live favourites. Marking Time was also released on the Facsimile Liasons label in 1982 (cat. no. AFL4) b/w Syncopation. A rare Manchester classic! If anybody has a copy of the tape album, please post.

There were also two BBC Radio sessions on David Kid Jensen's Evening Show in 1982 and a 1983 TV appearance on BBC TV's YES Show, hosted by Janice Long. Look here.

Syncopation secured lucrative support slots with The Jam, on the Woking threesomes final tour, and a deal was signed with Polydor subsidiary Bronze Records, but the label was to close and the band split before any further output.
Marking Time : ripped from a 7"vinyl single released on Facsimile Liasons (AFL 4) in 1982 to high quality lossless FLAC audio.

With thanks to the SalfordMusic.com website, I've also included the demo of the superb Down.

With thanks to a member of the Peel Yahoo Group, here is an mp3 version of the band's first and damn fine Kid Jensen Session, first aired in February 1982 (and recently rebroadcast on BBC6 Music in 2011). The track Rain is especially good.
