Repetition - A Still Reflex b/w Fade Out
Time to revisit Repetition and re-rip to a higher quality. Repetition were amongst the first artists to release product on Les Disques du Crepescule after being spotted by Anik Honore. The High Wycombe quintet released two 7" singles on the Belgian label in 1981. The first single A Still Reflex featured Sarah Osbourne on vocals, and is a minimal dark affair, much alike the work of Crispy Ambulance. It was recorded at Spaceward Studios in Saffron Walden and produced by New Order manager Rob Gretton. The flip Fade Out is better with some great guitar riffs and washes of string-like synth. To confuse, the single sleeve refers to The Still Reflex, whereas the label indicates A Still Reflex.

Repetition - A Full Rotation b/w The Body Cries
Sarah was replaced by Steve Musham on vocals and the band turned the corner with the superb A Full Rotation. This second single oozes mock indie-disco mixed with minimalist synths, dulcet vocals and a toe tapping percussion outro. Quite unusual, very wonderful and very much overlooked. The Body Cries on the reverse is more good old minimal dark waviness.

Repetition - Peel Session 1981
Repetition also recorded a session for BBC Radio's John Peel Show in August 1981. None of the tracks were ever to be commercially released, yet show the band's sound developing and maturing further. Listening to them some thirty odd years on, there are obvious comparisons to bands such as Comsat Angels and The Chameleons, and it is clear they had begun to improve as musicians.
From an old tape donated by a blog follower, I've included the four broadcast session tracks ripped to lossless flac. These are from FM radio originally transmitted on the 17th August 1981, so expect a little hiss in places.
1. Carnival
2. Autumn
3. On The Other Side
4. Enchantment
