Pixies - Surfer Rosa
Ripped from a vinyl album released on 4AD Records (CAD 803) in 1988 to high resolution 24-bit flac audio. Occasionally in our fickle musical world, a band pops along who are suddenly hailed by all who say they know better as the next big thing. Pixies were one of those bands. Modern music is cyclical (since at least the sixties). We already had The Stooges, The Ramones and Pere Ubu, without all of whom there would have been no Pixies. What was new was that they were a band on 4AD who didn't sound like a 4AD band. Thank heavens we had a Vaughan Oliver sleeve to reassure us all at the time.

Pixies On Toast

Pixies - Come On Pilgrim
Originally released as a 12" vinyl mini album on 4AD Records (MAD 709) in 1987. Ripped here from a 2003 compact disc reissue. The marmite of 4AD americana - I bought the original record just because it was on 4AD, I didn't buy many more Pixies releases, many of you no doubt have them all. When We Were Gigantic

The Pixies - Gigantic EP
Ripped from a compact disc EP released on 4AD Records (BAD 805 CD) in 1988 to high quality lossless flac audio. It's quite remarkable the change to the 4AD sound when Ivo crossed the Atlantic looking to expand his roster. It's a also quite remarkable how quietly they used to master compact discs back in the eighties....
