If Only We'd Known....

Treebound Story - I Remember
Ripped from a 12" vinyl single released on Fon Records (ELM 1) in 1986 to high resolution 24-bit flac audio. A quick hop back across The Pennines to Sheffield, but to not the hard industrial landscape of the steel town, but to a gentle guitar indie-pop place more akin to the lore of Steven Patrick and Johnny Marr. Those who know this record will surely love it, there is absolutely no reason to dislike I Remember with its delightfully simple guitar hook. Peel loved it, he played it to death, however after just one Peel Session and four varying singles Treebound Story were no more - a pity as an album could have been huge.
There is a post script however as the plectrum plucking these gentle guitar melodies (and occasional bits of twang) is held by one Richard Hawley, who these days makes a pretty good living with his guitar as one the latter day icons/guardians of indie rock'n'roll (or is it latter day Roy Orbison?). Treebound Story once had their place in indie-pop history too but alas at the time very few realised. Enjoy!
