Another request! What's up with me today? I must be feeling extra generous. It took a tiny US label to dig out quality transfers of APB's early radio sessions for Peel, Jensen and others. Likely as APB were bigger in the US than they were on this side of the Atlantic. I have never understood why the British public mostly chose to ignore these fine wee Scottish funksters - their early recordings are truly superb and clearly deserve revisiting. The gem is of course the original session version of Danceability which predates the ultimate single release by two years. To think that A Certain Ratio had dumped most of their following with the weak Guess Who? single at about the same time, and you'll appreciate how good these chaps really were.
I've also ripped the double CD re-release of the 1985 compilation Something To Believe In which gathers all the singles and b-sides, backed with some nice live stuff, an unreleased 1981 demo, but also features some of the weaker unreleased stuff from the later eighties, though I do like the inventive Walk Away. All in all pretty essential stuff!
