Horses Heads In Their Beds

La Cosa Nostra - La Cosa Nostra
Some obscure Belgian indie funk from one off Factory Benelux act La Cosa Nostra, of which the single Coming Closer has featured a few times here - the different seven inch version and it's b-side are on the album. I won't build this one up because the previous Dojoji album is miles better but given the Factory connection most will find it worth a listen.
Our Belgian friends are trying to replicate the east coast sound of eighties New York, but vocal and lyrical naivety do hold them back somewhat. The ideas are good and you can understand what they are trying to do but this record does not age well, as much as those from other similar acts. Fans of the genre would be better off listening to the two fine albums by Dubset which I upped here a few years back.

Ripped from a vinyl album released on Crammed Discs (CRAM 040) in 1985 to high quality lossless flac.

La Cosa Nostra - Coming Closer

La Cosa Nostra were a short lived Belgian techno-dance outfit of Michel Delroy, David Avidor and Cas Van der Taelen.
Coming Closer snuck out on the Factory Benelux franchise and is a catchy 80's pop-dance number with touches of the Belgian techno and metal guitar. Not a great track but highly listenable.
Quite rare would be an understatement!

The band went onto release an LP on Crammed Discs, does anybody have a copy they'd wish to share? The album features the two different versions from the Factory Benelux 7".
