So what is the greatest 7" single ever released? A contender could be this three minute wonder. I'd admit to never really being a great fan of The Wedding Present, but for me, this is their finest moment which epitomises everything they were about, it's the pure manic energy which spews from the guitars of Gedge and Solowka, its music to jump up and down to, and there is a lyrical wit lost which was lost on so many at the time. Yes, Josef K were the finest exponents of this sound some five years previously, but this is a tune for the C86 Generation with some added Yorkshire charm. How dare they sign to RCA! It just didn't seem right.
