John Metcalfe - Scorching Bay (Deluxe Edition)
Ripped from a double compact disc set released on Black Box Recordings (BBM 1082) in 2004 to high quality lossless flac audio. Most should be aware of how important John Metcalfe (actually a Kiwi) has become in modern British music, since his early work with The Durutti Column (he performed live and recorded with Vinnie Reilly from 1985 onwards), then the widely misunderstood Factory Classical releases (FACT 226 & FACT 246) followed by work with Morrissey on Viva Hate. He then went on to record and perform as an established classical artist in his own right. At the turn of the century he defined his own style by mixing his classical roots with more modern electronics for two excellent albums, The Inner Line and Scorching Bay. Clearly his work with Vinnie Reilly helped set the direction for this and anybody with even just the slightest appreciation for The Durutti Column will quickly love these recordings. Metcalfe has gone from strength to strength, now worldly renowned for his arrangement work with artists such as Peter Gabriel and also for film/tv themes and incidental music.
