Winston Tong - Theoretical China
I can't say that I cared much for Tuxedomoon, they were a bit too arty-farty for my liking. For all the same reasons, this 1984 12" on Les Disques du Crepescule isn't that good, it slipped out quietly back then and never really sold. Ok, well I eventually bought one, and when you check out who played on the track, you'll realise that Winston actually had an amazing line-up of credible musicians backing him on the A-side. The highlight for me is Wobble's fine funk groove bassline. Unfortunately Tong is the weak link - his pretentious half-spoken vocals spoil the track, I suggest that if more talented vocalists such as Paul Haig or Grace Jones were responsible then I would be raving about this record.
