A.R. Kane - Rem'i'xes
Ripped from a compact disc album released on Rough Trade Records (RTDCD 171) in 1990 to high quality lossless flac audio.

As mentioned previously I seem to have misplaced my copy of 'i' but thankfully blog follower Harald has kindly donated a rip of his ...plus the elusive remix album. I thought I'd squeeze these in before the next wave of posts because I'd guess many readers haven't heard the difficult second album.
I remember the first time I heard 'i' was when living and working in North London in the late eighties when the Rough Trade sales rep shared an advance white label vinyl copy which we played instore. Within moments people were asking for copies, needless to say he got an order!
This is a very different album to 69, you can tell it is A.R. Kane as the deeply drippy vocals mix with fuzzy psyche guitars, however therecord works around some fresh, breezy and trippy synthpop - verging on commercial in places - like Snow Joke with it's poppy New Order-like charm, Crack Up - a dance pop ode to those little rocks, Sugarwings - a ballad!! There are still many dream-noisy psyche tunes similar to the early singles, but the whole album is a pleasurable listening experience from beginning to end and should be admired as such. Back in 1989, switched on kids were raving about Spacemen 3, many would have overlooked 'i'

Stoned?

A.R. Kane - 69
Ripped from a compact disc album released on Rough Trade Records (ROUGH 119 CD) in 1988 to high quality lossless flac audio. After a couple of singles, we were all desperate to hear the first album... There's as a dreamy almost lazy quality to A.R. Kane which seems to be the core theme running throughout all ten tracks. Was it that they just didn't care, or perhaps they were just too stoned to care? I always found the more trippy-poppy follow-up "i" more pleasing on the ear - it bares no resemblance whatsoever to 69, and damn it, I can't find my cd copy. Anybody?

A.R. Kane - Up Home!
Ripped from a 12" vinyl EP released on Rough Trade Records (RTT 201) in 1988 to high resolution 24-bit flac audio. Talking of fuzzy psychedelia, but this time with dubby, shoe-gazey elements, here's another A.R. Kane single courtesy of Steve. By 1988 A.R. Kane were already on there third label and about to release their first long player....coming next!

A.R. Kane - Lolita
Ripped from a 12" vinyl single released on 4AD Records (BAD 704) in 1987 to high resolution 24-bit flac audio. If there was ever a band to highlight the transition between twinkly indie-pop and the fuzzy world of the new sonic psyche bands of the late eighties, it had to be A.R. Kane. Produced by Robin Guthrie who should be applauded for the Kane's full on wall-of-sound guitar sound and influencing all those others who followed in years to come.
