Cardiacs - Is This The Life
Time for another lossless re-rip. Here's what I said a few years back....
Is this possibly the greatest single of all time? This is the hit both Robert Smith and Ian Astbury wish they had written. Yes, it did break the mainstream UK charts, and yes a snippet of the video was shown on Top of the Pops. Cardiacs always looked like extras from a George A. Romero movie, their music is messy, twisted, jerky, powerful and progressive, defined by some as Pronk. This scribe was lucky enough to see them live in 1988. Silly string, foam and dry ice filled the air as the band just blew me away.

To bring things up-to-date, lead Cardiac Tim Smith suffered a combined stroke and heart attack in 2008. Most of The Cardiacs output has been unavailable since, but the very wonderful Genepool label have brought together a plethora of respectful artists on a Cardiacs tribute album to raise funds for Tim. You can get this here.
