Psychic TV - I.C. Water
Ripped from a 12" vinyl single released on Temple Records (TOPY 058T) in 1990 to high resolution 24-bit flac audio. I met GPO in 1990 and he couldn't remember what day of the week it was, let alone a detailed conversation in May 1980 with a Macclesfield icon who was about to top himself. Call me sceptical (moi?). Psychic TV managed two really good albums (the first two) and a smattering of great singles (especially Roman P.), perhaps hanging on the trench coat tails of dead pop stars was evidence that Genesis needed to find a new way of getting himself back into the public eye. Anyway that story aside, I.C. Water is actually quite a good dreamy dance record, complete with samples of an interview with Ian Curtis on the extended version. For penguinflight.

How do you like your P-Orridge?

Psychic TV - Force The Hand Of Chance
Originally released on WEA Records (PSY 1) in 1982. Recreated and expanded from a 1995 compact disc to high quality lossless flac audio. I've chosen to use the original album sleeve rather than the tasteless, loud and highly inoffensive Cleopatra reissue cover. Ov Power!

Genesis P. Revelation

Psychic TV - Just Drifting
A lossless re-rip of an old post from the beginnings of ESWA. I managed to upset blog follower whitepunksondope back then, as he thought I was taking the p*ss out of his beloved GPO. I wasn't, in truth I was pointing fun at the two major labels (WEA and CBS) who licensed Psychic TV through Some Bizarre. To be frank about Genesis, his musical output has varied widely between groundbreaking to downright awful. Just Drifting, their major label debut, is a sweet and soppy ballad (strings arranged by Andrew Poppy), and very much tongue in cheek. Over on the other side, Breakthrough starts by dipping into Warhol-era Velvets, and then launches a head cruching aural assault at you.

The sleeve notes say...
"This is a Zuccarelli Holophonic TM recording made with the assistance of Mike King. This system gives 360 degree sound or Three Dimensional sound. For best effect place speakers opposite each other and sit in the middle, or use headphones. Close your eyes, play quite loud and try and read the pcitures. Walk through the rooms of The Temple Ov Psychick Youth." "If you sit with fear, a star too far, almost lost in this storm of Life. A blazing ghost can become the host, and you breakthrough to the room of dreams."

ahem!

Ripped from a 7" vinyl single released on Some Bizarre/Warner Brothers (PTV 1) in 1982 to high quality lossless flac audio.

Psychic TV - The Magickal Mystery D Tour EP

You can always rely on Genesis P-Orridge for some weird and wacky fun. I bought this release purely for the fantastic Roman P single which was included in the gatefold double single. Roman P is a superb punk number and likely PTV's finest work, it never really got the recognition it deserved, probably because the band (and it's label RCA) put all their efforts into pushing Godstar in a multiple of versions. As for the the rest of the tracks - you can make up your own minds!

The Magickal Mystery D Tour EP : ripped from a double 7" vinyl gatefold pack released on Temple Records (TOPYD 23) in 1986 to high quality lossless flac audio.

In 1982, Warners were stupid enough to sign Genesis P.Orridge and his chums, then license them through Some Bizzare.

What's even funnier is that CBS signed them after this! I wonder if the sound of a daft Genesis chuckling away to himself could be heard in the plush offices on Wardour Street?

Re-rip coming!
