Perennial Divide - Purge
Of the second generation of industrial post-punk bands, Perennial Divide were the hardest sounding. Whilst their existence was relatively short before they metamorphosed into the brit-hop noise of Meat Beat Manifesto, this album is one of the finest examples of late era industrial post-punk committed to vinyl. In many ways, Purge sounds like the album ClockDVA never made - you can hear DVA influences throughout as it acquires influence heavily from both Thirst and Advantage. Following on from where Hula and Workforce left off, the Perennials kept it close to the bone, with only very brief meanders into funk. Many of their peers had moved on by the time Purge was released in 1986, but the excellent Sweatbox label did its utmost best to keep the real industrial genre alive. Enjoy this album loudly.

Perennial Divide - Burn Down
My copy of the album came shrink-wrapped with a copy of the Perennial's very loud debut 12" single. Much more dance orientated than the album, though I'd love to see somebody attempt any moves to this. Cheers Sweatbox - nice gesture - and a great way of clearing a few left over boxes of the single. Expect a mini 24-bit Sweatbox splurge in the coming weeks - but I promise only a little Meat Beat Manifesto.
