Freight Train - Man's Laughter
Out of Tamworth came Freight Train. Likely very inconsequential to most, except eighties Radio One Saturday stalwart Richard Skinner and local blonde head-case Julian Cope. Julian's brother Joss played keyboards and later JC right-hand man Donald Skinner assumed vocals. Skinner offered the band a radio session (anybody heard it?) and after initial promise nothing more was heard. Man's Laughter does sound incredibly like The Teardrop Explodes, whereas the flip-side echoes Barrett-era Floyd.
Bam Caruso were the vehicle for their debut vinyl with the hope of a major contract to follow, but the band all moved off in differing directions, one to form part of the paisley Primal Scream, Joss Cope formed Something Pretty Beautiful who were snapped up by Creation, and Don Skinner worked closely with Julian Cope.
Ripped from a 7" vinyl single released on Bam Caruso Records (NRIC 031) in 1985 to high quality lossless flac audio.
