Vegetable Man

Robyn Hitchcock - Invisible Hitchcock
Whilst on the subject of English eccentricity, here's a man with a bunch of radishes. I always felt that if the post-Soft Boy Hitchcock had released All I Want To Do Is Fall In Love as a single then his career would have followed a different path and perhaps he would have the fame he truly deserves. Hitchcock takes us on a Mystic Trip through his surreal yet creative genius with plenty of  obtuse observations on life laden with a plethora of lyrical wit.
You can pick and choose your way through Robyn's hefty discography seeking out his best work, and it does vary greatly according to taste, even Hitchcock has distanced himself from some of his releases. I have seen him live once (with The Egyptians) when he supported A Certain Ratio at the ICA in 1985, and as I felt intrigued to hear more I picked up this album on the cheap.  Invisible Hitchcock gathers up out-takes and rarities between 1980 and 1985, mixing them up with a few early highlights and works well as a compilation. For a bigger picture of his best work, it is worth seeking out the Black Snake Diamond Role, I Often Dream Of Trains, Fegmania! and Element Of Light albums.

Ripped from a vinyl album released on Glass Fish Records (MOIST 2) in 1986 to high quality lossless flac audio.
