I'll admit that I did not lose sleep when the Funboy Three split, but I was very pleased to hear Terry Hall's next incarnation, The Colour Field. This self-titled debut single is a dark brooding number with a huge nod to the Bunnymen.
It is just a huge pity that Hall did not ignore pressures from his label, Chrysalis. He remolded The Colour Field sound to a more commercial pop sound and they became The Colourfield who had a string of pop hits. This debut single was strangely left off their debut album released a year later (though it later was to appear on the CD). The flip side, Sorry is a good example of why Hall is/can be such a fine songwriter.
