British Electric Foundation - Music For Stowaways
Ripped from a promotional white label vinyl album released on Virgin Records (V 2888) in 1981 to high resolution 24-bit flac audio. One of our very occasional holy crap! moments (there have only been a few) here on ESWA. Something quite rare which was only released on cassette tape. I'll let Steve explain.....
Dennis Blackham (aka Bilbo, mastering engineer at Tape One studios, Tottenham Court Rd., London 1978-1989] did a marvelous job on this in my opinion. The vinyl disc is like a dinner plate, the grooves are deep and widely spaced, 4 tracks per side, and no crackle whatsoever from my minty copy. The sonic qualities of this LP are breathtaking, I can hear stuff going on here that is not audible on the tape cassette or the expanded 1997 Caroline Records CD. It jumps right out of the speakers at you! British Electric Foundation 1981 cassette only release Music For Stowaways was pressed up in a very limited quantity of LP vinyl promos, intended for use as library music. There was also an export only vinyl LP titled Music For Listening To but the track listing was altered for commercial release. So ostensibly what we have hear is the best sounding audio version of the tape cassette sourced from a skillfully mastered vinyl LP and rare as hen's teeth in this format to boot. Just had to share this with you.
