The World Wouldn't Listen

Dalek I - The World
Ripped from a 7" vinyl single released on Vertigo Records (DALEK 2) in 1979 to 24-bit high resolution lossless flac. Courtesy of Steve, here is Dalek I's second single for Vertigo, which sounds remarkably timeless considering its 1979 release date suggests. Enjoy.

Something From Godot

Godot - Something's Missing
Ripped from a 10" vinyl EP released on Pinnacle Records (PIN 514-10) to high resolution 24-bit flac audio. As promised, here is the second released from Dalek I spin-off Godot. David Hughes was eventually move into the world of writing film soundtracks, so as expected there are hints of this direction on all three tracks of this excellent EP.

Say hello to the freedom fighters...

Dalek I - Freedom Fighters
Ripped from a 7" vinyl single released on Vertigo Records (DALEK 1) in 1979 to high resolution 24-bit flac audio. Kindly ripped and donated by blog follower Steve, here is the excellent debut minimal synth single from Dalek I released incredibly on a prog record label ...no different I suppose to Harvest Records signing of Wire?

B1 Two Chameleons

Wait For Godot

Godot - Extended Player
Ripped from a self-released 12" vinyl single released in 1981  to high resolution 24-bit flac. Graciously donated among a plethora of Dalek I related releases by blog follower Steve. I had never heard this EP until this morning, and am quite impressed by Godot's unique mix of minimalist electronica with symphonic (almost progressive) arrangements. Godot were a project of Dalek I's Dave Hughes and Keith Hartley in between their Dalek I, Dalek I Love You and OMD days.

Here Come The Cybermen....

Dalek I - Compass Kum'pas
Originally released as a vinyl album on Back Door Records (OPEN 1) in 1980. Ripped here from a 1989 Fontana Records expanded compact disc to high quality lossless flac. Often overlooked, but an important branch in Liverpool's post-punk family tree, Dalek I were early minimalist synthpop pioneers who once (very briefly) featured David Balfe and Andy McCluskey in their line up. Early new wave singles The World and Freedom Fighters were released on the major Vertigo label before the band shrunk back to the duo of Alan Gill and Dave Hughes and signed with Warners' locally managed Korova label. Enjoy!
