What's even funnier is that CBS signed them after this! I wonder if the sound of a daft Genesis chuckling away to himself could be heard in the plush offices on Wardour Street?

I think you are being way to harsh on PTV, not only did Genesis form an integral part of TG but without them you can argue, a lot of the bands you have posted may never have existed. Not only that but PTV were completely ahead of the game when acid-house emerged (and Richard Norris is still doing great things as Time&Space Machine & one half of Beyond The Wizards Sleeve) and evern though they often get written out of the detroit/ibiza historical narrative I think finally they are getting the recognition they deserve. You should watch the latest Genesis interviews which have been posted as online videos, he is still a fascinating figure....he is finally being taken seriously as a serious cultural figure. This often happens to outlaw cultural engineers, they are hated and reviled at the time but years later people finally "get them", WS Burroughs is another great example of this and its hardly suprising Genesis and he were long time friends.

well, i love PTV and i STILL think Warners and CBS must have been crazy to sign them... if Stevo was involved then it was a sign of brilliantly demented times...never to be repeated... the same goes for Foetus getting distribution ... and Neubauten... The The... in fact, more or less everyone on the Some Bizarre... indie/major hybrid... genius...
