Broken Glass - Style Of The Street
Ripped from a 12" vinyl single released on Streetwave Records (MKHAN 17) in 1984 to high resolution 24-bit lossless flac audio. The public face of Broken Glass a troop of Mancunian hip-hop dance artistes, the reality was Hacienda DJ Greg Wilson aided and abetted by Andy Connell (ACR & Swing Out Sister) plus Martin Jackson (Magazine & Swing Out Sister). The rappers were Paul Leveridge aka Kermit (yes ....that Kermit!) and his mate Fiddz. The line-up was also responsible for the superb Music 12" by Syncbeat and a whole album of UK Electro, also on Morgan Khan's Streetwave label.

ReplyDeleteAs mentioned here - http://fremsley.tumblr.com/post/48793939413 - always adored Music - Syncbeat. More so than this, of the two Streetwave twelves from the LP. I played the copy of UK Electro to death, or at least my taped copy of it; I'm glad the vinyl survived enough to be reproduced properly here.

I didn't *know* that Broken Glass was entirely the same crew as Syncbeat but I had an inkling. Didn't know, for instance that it was Kermit doing the vocals; that's brilliant - several dots finally joined.
Kermit and Greg are very active on the counterculture scene these days, quite apart from music.
