Age Of Chance - Kisspower
Ripped from a 12 " white label single released on Fon Records (AGEX 5) in 1986 to high resolution 24-bit flac audio. Okay okay.... I know I said I would never post this again but Steve taken the time to rip his copy and hence save me the trouble...
Back in 1985, Leeds based Peel darlings and agitprop noise terrorists, Age Of Chance covered Prince's Kiss for their second Peel Session. After a couple of noisy singles on their own Riot Bible lable, Age of Chance signed to Chakk's Fon label.
Kiss was the first release on Fon in a multitude of single and mini-album formats. The tracker teetered on the edge of the mainstream charts for quite sometime and eventually the band were picked up by Virgin Records licensed via Fon.
Virgin gave the band the benefit of a huge salesforce and radio pluggers. This version was passed to John Peel who played it on his show a few times. Eventually the Virgin Sales Force started to pass copies of this white label around the music trade.
I remember grabbing five copies from my rep, none of which found their way on to the record shop racks. Virgin bottled an official release due to major copyright infringements.

AMAZING is all I can say about your blog. Brings back great memories. After World Domination Ent the other day, discovered in a record shop in the latin qt of Toulouse as was On U Sound.
ReplyDeleteThe Age Of Chance was a few years earlier, vivid memories of hearing this sampling feast on Peel and doing the rounds of local record stores only to be stared at like an idiot until I stumbled on a like minded person kbehind the counter of Our Price Stratford who had heard it on Peel as well but knew not when and if it was to be available. Funny thing memmories. Thanks again.
