The Jazz Defektors
Ok, hardly everybody's cup of tea, but there was a time when the new British cool jazz was the scene. The Jazz Defektors were part of it and were signed up by Factory Records.
After numerous PA appearances at The Hacienda, a live performance at 1985's IYY Festival and cameo's in the 1986 movie Absolute Beginners, things were looking up for the JD's.
Unfortunately for them, it took three years for Factory to get the LP out and by 1988 everybody was now sucking on little tabs of paper and waving their arms in the air like loonies.
This is not a bad album, it just sounds a little dated. Worthy of note are the mixing credits for Paul Weller and Mick Talbot.
