Twenty Four Hours - Soundtrack

Twenty Four Hours was a short term solo project by A Certain Ratio frontman Jez Kerr. ACR ceased to be a full-time band from the early 90's and were virtually dormant for a decade.

Kerr had been lead vocalist since 1984, after the band refound their direction following the departure of Simon Topping. Kerr introduced a more coherent vocal style with more meaningful lyrics.

Soundtrack continues where ACR left off with their Change The Station album, with Kerr's dreamy, yet dark lyrics floating over layers of dubby electronic pop. He mixes cut-ups with acoustics, deep house rhythms with echoey soundscapes. Released in 2003 as a download and rare CD on Manchester's (now) defunkt Urbanite label, It does work rather well. Kerr roped in guest musicians to work with him, including Johnny Marr and former ACR keyboardist Andy Connell.

Kerr reformed 24 Hours as a five piece live band in 2006 with a more psychaedelic rock sound. They played a very limited number of gigs (including Salford's Kings Arms Pub which was captured on film) before disappearing again. One track, So Good was made available as a free download, but as their website is now offline, I've included it here.
